This large beautification project was located at the I-280 Freeway off-ramp and entry to the Serramonte Shopping Center in Daly City. The project included a boulder-lined dry creek, ornamental grasses, native trees and solar-powered irrigation controls.  Built with sustainable strategies, the following Bay Friendly practices were incorporated:

• no chemical fertilizer; instead, organic compost soils and mulches were used in planting
• near zero waste for the entire project by recycling existing river cobbles into the new landscape and sending steel pipe, poles and fence materials to a local steel fabricator
• aggressive storm-water pollution prevention practices were used
